An elderly U.S. couple has been charged with felony criminal mischief for allegedly raping a Muslim neighbor in New Jersey. The court handed down the verdict after an argument in Jersey City on Wednesday (April 20) local time.
A two-day jury trial in the state of Hudson County has ruled that the charges against them were substantiated. The judge set June 6 as the date for the sentencing.
Hudson County prosecutors say William Aung, 8, of Jersey City, and his wife, Beverly Aung, 63, have been harassing Muslim neighbors.
They point fingers at the neighbors. In a separate incident, the anti-Muslim couple used to shoot their neighbors’ children with their fingers and uttered hate speech.
Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said no hate speech would be tolerated in Hudson County. Any such activity will be strictly suppressed.
The couple had lodged a complaint with the Muslim Neighboring Police against them after committing such heinous acts at different times between 2016 and 2017. Earlier in 2012, Beverly Aung was convicted of treating her neighbors, including her daughter, according to a court statement.
