Two people were killed in a road accident at Comilla on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. The two accidents took place at Burichang in the district on Tuesday afternoon and at Chauddagram in the morning.
A 50-year-old man was killed in a road accident at Kalakchua area of Mainamati union in Burichang upazila on the highway. The accident took place at Sakura CNG pump area in Kalakchua area on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Altab Hossain, a resident of Pirganj area of Rangpur district.
Jahangir Alam, sub-inspector of Mainamati Highway Crossing Police Station, said Altab Hossain was crushed by an unidentified vehicle while crossing the road in Kalakchua area of the highway. He died on the spot. Altab Hossain’s body has been taken to Mainamati Highway Police Station. Attempts are being made to identify the wrecked car.
Meanwhile, a Saudi expatriate named Shahadat Hossain (32) was killed when he was hit by a speeding microbus while crossing the road at Comilla’s Chauddagram. The accident took place in front of the Times Square Hotel on the highway on Tuesday morning. The deceased was identified as Shafiqur Rahman of Kalikapur village under Kalikapur union of Shahadat upazila. SI Mohsin Mia of Miyabazar Highway Police Outpost confirmed the death.
According to the family of the deceased, Shahadat is the father of one son and one daughter. A few days ago, he came to the country from Saudi Arabia on holiday.
