Two motorcyclists killed in bus collision in Kashiani

Two friends on a motorcycle were killed when a Khulna-bound transport bus from Dhaka collided with a truck at Kashiani in Gopalganj. The accident took place at Bhatiapara of Kashiani upazila on the Dhaka-Khulna highway around 8:30 pm on Saturday (May 7).

The deceased were identified as Rumon Sikder, 18, son of Badir Sikder of Khairhat village in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj and Atiq, 15, of Lohagarh upazila in Narail district. Kashiani Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Masud Raihan confirmed the accident.

He said that two friends Ruman and Atiq were going to Pona village from Bhatiapara on a motorcycle. When the motorcycle reached near Bhatiapara flyover on the Dhaka-Khulna highway, Atiq died on the spot after being hit by a Khulna-bound Green Line transport bus

The OC added that locals rescued the injured Rumon and took him to a 100-bed hospital in Kashiani, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. The deadly bus was detained in front of the Gopalganj police line. However, the bus driver escaped.
