It is reported on Wapcar that many automakers in India are now moving towards gasoline-only vehicles, especially in the low-end and compact space. While the country’s largest automaker, Maruti Suzuki India, currently sells only gasoline-powered vehicles, Tata Motors has converted its entry-level models to a fleet of petrol-only vehicles. So if you’re looking for a diesel sedan, options are pretty limited in the new car segment. However, you can find plenty of options in the used car space, and here are five diesel sedans that we think you should consider when shopping in the used car market.

Honda Jazz second hand

The previous generation i20 with its 1.4-litre engine, which you can find in larger quantities, has been tuned to make 89bhp and 220Nm of peak torque. Depending on the model year and condition of the vehicle, you can buy a used i20 diesel for between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 8,000,000.

Used Ford Figo

Depending on the model year and condition of the vehicle, you can get a used diesel Figo from Rs 2. 2 lakh to Rs. 6.5 million.

The Ford Figo is now discontinued, but it’s powered by one of the nicest diesel engines in its class. The new generation Figo is equipped with a 1.5-liter TDCi diesel engine tuned to deliver 99 hp and 215 Nm of torque. While the first generation Figo comes with a 1.4-liter diesel engine tuned to deliver 68bhp and 160Nm of torque. Both are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Depending on the model year and condition of the vehicle, you can get a used diesel Figo from Rs 2. 2 lakh to Rs. 6.5 million.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno second hand

Depending on the model year and condition of the vehicle, you can buy one for around Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. 7.5 million.

The Baleno is one of the best-selling cars of Maruti Suzuki India, and also a very popular choice in the used car market. While the current version only has a 1.2-liter petrol engine with a manual transmission and an AMT unit, prior to the BS6 conversion, the premium saloon was powered by a high-performance 1.3-liter diesel engine. The oil burner is tuned to deliver 74hp and 200Nm of peak torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Depending on the model year and condition of the vehicle, you can buy one for around Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. 7.5 million.
