BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that opposition political leaders and activists are not getting justice due to factionalism in the judiciary.

He said the Awami League government wants to establish a disguised one-party system of governance in the country in a very planned manner. That is why they have destroyed all the independent institutions one by one. First of all, they have given their hand to the judiciary.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “They have taken the judiciary to a partisan place, especially the verdicts of political leaders and activists, which are going against the people, against democracy.” They are not getting justice.
In this context, Mirza Fakhrul mentioned the case of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against Jobaida Rahman, wife of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
He said the ACC had also filed a false case against Jobaida Rahman, who had never been involved in politics. It has been directed to start proceedings in that case. Mirza Fakhrul said, ‘We think it is a very illegal act. It’s not just the independence of the judiciary, the judiciary is being controlled.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir alleged that a non-democratic situation was prevailing in the country. Accusing the ruling party of destroying every state institution, he said it had pushed the people of Bangladesh into a dark hole.
The BNP secretary general said, ‘Three years ago, Khaleda Zia, the jewel in the eyes of 160 million people, had Iftar with us. Today, due to the political revenge of this fascist government, he has been imprisoned on a completely false charge. Our acting chairman Tareq Rahman has been deported. False cases have been filed against our 3.5 million people, more than 600 leaders and activists have been abducted and thousands of people have been killed.
The BNP secretary general called upon all including the leaders and workers to unite to overcome this situation.
Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP convener Abdus Salam presided over the Iftar function and the party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman addressed the function as the chief guest. Earlier, family members of the missing and murdered leaders of the party also spoke on the occasion.
