Narendra Modi is going to visit Jammu next Sunday. He will address a large gathering in the village of Palli. Thousands of panchayat members are expected to attend the rally. This is Modi’s first political visit to Kashmir since it was revoked in August 2019.

The security forces have been kept on high alert ahead of Modi’s visit to Jammu. Security forces have stepped up patrols in Jammu and Kashmir to prevent any terrorist attack. Meanwhile, reports of terrorists staying near the cantonment area have raised security concerns.

Citing security sources, NDTV reported that police had secret information that at least two terrorists were stationed in the Sunjoyan Cantonment area. On this basis, when the members of the security forces started the operation, they fell into the shelling. An assistant sub-inspector of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was killed. Additional Director General of Jammu Police Mukesh Singh said, “We cordoned off the area after receiving information that terrorists were hiding here and planning to carry out activities. One security official was killed and four others were injured when troops opened fire on them in the morning. The gunfight is still going on.

Earlier, in February 2016, several people were killed in a terrorist attack in Sunjoyan Cantonment.

There have been several attacks in the Kashmir Valley since last month. So far, four panchayat members have been killed and several migrant workers injured in the attacks.

Three suspected terrorists, including a top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander, were killed in a security operation in Baramulla area yesterday. The operation, which started last Thursday morning, is ongoing. The security forces believe that some more terrorists are hiding in the area.
