Lt. Chief of Army Staff of India. General Manoj Pandey

Vice Chief Lieutenant General Manoj Pandey has been appointed as the next Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army. He will take charge on May 1. Indian media reported on NDTV on Monday.

A Defense Ministry official said Lt. Gen. The government has decided to appoint General Manoj Pandey.

Manoj Pandey, an alumnus of the National Defense Academy, was commissioned by the Engineer Corps in 1982.

Manoj Pandey led the Engineer’s Regiment in ‘Operation Parakram’ in the Pallanwala sector of the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir. Large numbers of troops and weapons were deployed along the western border during the operation. India and Pakistan were on the brink of war after the 2001 terrorist attacks on parliament.
