Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, former professor. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal says that if you want to prepare for life, you have to prepare for failure. Failure will come, but do not be discouraged. Dream success is not life. Life is about working for dreams.. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
He said this while addressing the first convocation of Sonargaon University at Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital on Wednesday (April 13).
Addressing the graduates present at the convocation of Sonargaon University, he said, “You have crossed a step of formal education. Today I would like to give you an important piece of information.” Many of you may know, but don’t believe. That is, your formal education certificate is not enough. There is more to life than meets the eye. So if you want to prepare for life, prepare for failure. Failure is also a part of life. Failure will come, but life is not to be discouraged. Remember, dreaming is not life. Life is about working for dreams.
“We have an abundance of information technology all around us,” said the veteran educator. Google, Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft. All of us are tied up in their network. We have lost multiple generations in the Internet. Just information and information around. Either I give or I take. As much as I know about myself, information technology knows more than that. Everyone is addicted to various drugs called social networks.
He said that when he saw his child smoking a cigarette, his parents went crazy in panic. But when the little one watches YouTube and Facebook on his smartphone, the parents don’t worry so much. But the two are the same thing. The same procedure has to be taken for the treatment of such addiction.
“I leave it up to you to decide,” he told the graduates. Will you look at your smartphone, laptop, Facebook and television screen, or will you look at the blood-flesh man sitting next to you, at his eyes? Will you use technology or will technology use you?
