Hyundai Motor and its subsidiary Kia Indonesia have reported strong sales growth in Vietnam and Indonesia in the first half of 2022, Vietnam News Agency reported on 24 July. Hyundai Thanh Cong Manufacturing Vietnam and THACO Kia jointly sold 71,882 units from January to June 2022, up 29.3 per cent year-on-year, according to a report by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association. These sales are 1.7 times more than Toyota’s sales in Vietnam (43,085 units). Hyundai and Kia’s market share in Vietnam grew by 38.3%, higher than Toyota’s level (23.2%).
Similarly, the Korean automaker’s total sales in Indonesia soared to 12,013 units, according to the Indonesian Automobile Industry Association. Hyundai and Kia’s market share in Indonesia also increased to 2.6 per cent, up 1.8 percentage points from the same period last year.
