Fire kills 2 in US, fire spreads fast

At least 200 homes were burned in the McBride fire. Officials said 5,738 hectares of forest had been burnt

An elderly couple has been killed in a fire in southwestern New Mexico. They fled the house. But could not. Their house is on fire. They also could not survive.

Police said on Thursday (April 14). Many cities in the state have been engulfed in flames.

A Lincoln National Forest spokesman said firefighters were able to contain the blaze in the town of Ruidoso on Thursday. At least 5,000 people have fled the city.

The town was engulfed in flames on Tuesday, local officials said. Then many houses were burnt to ashes. In addition to this city, fires are burning in at least six other places.

At least 200 homes were burned in the McBride fire. Officials said 5,738 hectares of forest had been burnt. The wind is blowing at 144 kilometers per hour. As a result, the fire is spreading fast.
