A deal worth more than 500 million has been finalized for the sale of English professional football club Chelsea. Chelsea Football Club made the announcement on Friday. The Todd Boehley-led group has agreed to buy the club.
MLB’s Los Angeles Dodgers, NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers, and WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks are owned by U.S. businessman Boehley.
Chelsea are getting a new owner in a 500 million
Chelsea said all necessary legal approvals for the sale of the club to the Boehley-led consortium would be completed by the end of this month.
The current owner of the club is Roman Abramovich, a Russian millionaire. The British government imposed sanctions on Roman Abramovich over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. His assets have also been confiscated due to his close ties with Putin.
Chelsea, one of the most popular football clubs in the world, came to a standstill due to the ban imposed on Roman Abramovich. Roman Abramovich later opened the club’s “for the welfare” sale in early March.
