A case has been registered in the police station for stabbing Mama to death over a land dispute in Pakundia of Kishoreganj. The incident took place at Porabaria village of Narandi union of the upazila around 5:15 pm on Thursday. Rahima Khatun, wife of Afzal Hossain Raihan, 32, filed the case with Pakundia Police Station on Friday afternoon. Two people have been accused in the case.
The accused are Jahidul Islam Mohsin, 22, nephew of Shahabuddin of Moksudpur village in Kishoreganj Sadar upazila and his accomplice Al Islam, 19, son of Hafiz Uddin of the same village. It is learned that Mohsin’s nephew had been arguing with Mama Raihan over his mother’s property for the last two-three months. At one stage, there were clashes between the two. Mama Raihan was doing aju in a tubewell on the north side of the house. There, Mohsin launched a surprise attack on his uncle. At that moment, Mohsin stabbed Raihan twice in the chest. Mohsin and Al Islam fled when people in the area rushed to Raihan’s call. Locals rescued Raihan and took him to Pakundia Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.
Officer-in-Charge (Additional Charge) of Pakundia Police Station Nahid Hasan Sumon said, “We have been conducting operations to arrest the accused since the incident.” Hopefully, we will be able to arrest Mohsin and other accused soon.
