Bodies of 900 civilians recovered from Kiev: Ukraine’s police chief

Recently, Russian troops were evacuated from the Ukrainian capital, Kiev. The main center of the Ukraine war is now the eastern part of the country. Russian forces are now concentrating there. Bodies were found lying on the streets in various parts of Ukraine after Ukrainian troops withdrew from Kiev. Kiev Regional Police Chief Andrei Nevitov told a news conference that bodies of civilians were still being recovered from various parts of Kiev.

Andrei Nevitov said: “Sadly, we have recovered 900 bodies. The bodies have been handed over to forensic experts.

Andrei Nebitov added that more than 300 bodies had been recovered from the town of Bucha. Debris is being cleared in Borodianka and Makarov. He noted that the bodies were still buried under the rubble. Nevitov claims the dead were civilians.

The BBC reports that they have not been able to verify the statement made by the Kiev police chief. However, BBC correspondents found bodies in civilian clothes lying on the street near Kiev.

On April 10, Ukrainian Prosecutor General Iriana Venediktova said 1,222 bodies had been recovered from towns around Kiev. However, he did not specify the number of civilians who were rescued.
