Bus tickets are being sold on the black market in Rangpur. Tickets for 800 rupees match two thousand. Passengers are being told from the bus counters that the ticket is over. All the tickets have been sold out till May 11. However, the members of the black market syndicate are getting tickets if they pay two thousand rupees. In this situation, the passengers are suffering to return to Dhaka after Eid holidays.
Passengers did not get tickets even after visiting Kamarpara bus stand in the city from morning to evening on Friday (May 6). Some people bought tickets for Rs. 800 for Rs. 2,000 and went to their destination. However, most of the passengers have suffered. Passengers were seen waiting for tickets at various bus counters at Kamarpara bus stand till Friday night.
According to local sources, more than 200 AC and non-AC buses ply from Kamarpara bus stand to different districts including Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet. Due to Corona, after two years, millions of people have come to Rangpur to celebrate Eid with their relatives. Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali Police Station OC Mahfuzar Rahman said, “Passengers have been suffering due to not getting bus tickets to return to work after Eid holidays. Passengers are moving from one counter to another for tickets. Counters are saying, there are no tickets. People who come to Eid are suffering to return to work. I have talked to various bus counter managers about the matter. If they don’t arrange tickets, we will take strict action.
